Voice Search Optimization for Plumbers: "Hey Siri, Find a Plumber"

1 min read

When people type, they search "Plumber Dallas." When they talk to Alexa or Siri, they ask "Who is the best plumber near me open right now?"

Voice search queries are longer, more conversational, and often question-based. To rank for them, you need to change how you write.

1. The FAQ Strategy

Create an FAQ page on your site that answers specific questions in a natural tone.
Q: "How much does it cost to unclog a drain?"
A: "The cost to unclog a drain typically ranges from $150 to $300 depending on the severity of the blockage."
This direct Q&A format is exactly what Google Assistant reads out loud.

Technical Tip: Schema Markup
Don't just write the text. Wrap it in "FAQ Schema" code. This tells Google explicitly "This is a question" and "This is the answer." It drastically increases your chances of being the featured answer that Siri reads.

2. Target Long-Tail Keywords

Don't just target "Water Heater." Target "How to fix a leaking water heater pilot light." These specific queries have lower competition and high intent.

The "Who, What, Where" Formula:
Voice searches often start with question words. Re-write your H2 headers to match these. Instead of "Water Heater Repair," use "What do I do if my water heater is leaking?" This matches the user's exact speech pattern.

Optimize for Featured Snippets (Position Zero)

When you ask a smart speaker a question, it usually reads the "Featured Snippet" - that box at the very top of Google. To get there, keep your answers concise (40-60 words) and factual. Google prefers direct answers over fluffy paragraphs.

3. Claim Your Listing on Apple Maps & Bing

Siri uses Apple Maps. Alexa often uses Bing. Ensure your business hours and phone number are correct on those platforms, not just Google.

4. "Near Me" Optimization

"Near me" implies urgency. Ensure your website loads instantly (mobile speed) and your address schema is correct so GPS knows exactly where you are.
