How to Retarget Website Visitors Who Didn't Call
They clicked your ad. They looked at your services. They almost booked. Then... the baby cried, or the phone rang, and they closed the tab. Retargeting gives you a second chance to close the deal.
How It Works
You place a small piece of code (called a "Pixel" for Facebook or "Tag" for Google) on your website. When a visitor lands on your site but leaves without filling out a form or calling, this code "cookies" them.
It then tells Facebook, Instagram, or Google to show your ads specifically to that person for the next 30 days as they browse the web.
Note on Privacy (iOS 14+): Privacy laws are getting stricter. Tracking isn't as perfect as it used to be. This makes capturing "First-Party Data" (emails/phone numbers) even more critical. Retargeting is a safety net, but lead capture is the goal.
Why It's So Cheap
Because you are only targeting a tiny audience (people who already know you), the audience size is small. You aren't paying to reach millions of people.
You can run a powerful, high-frequency retargeting campaign for as little as $5/day. It is often the highest ROI marketing spend you can make.
What to Show Them
Don't just show the same "Call Us" ad they already ignored. Show them Social Proof and overcome their objections.
- Ad 1 (Testimonial): A video testimonial from a happy client saying how clean you left their home.
- Ad 2 (Visual Proof): A "Before & After" photo of a recent job or a dirty filter vs. clean filter.
- Ad 3 (Guarantee): A reminder of your "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" or "On Time or It's Free" promise.
Sequence Your Ads: Show Ad 1 for days 1-3. Show Ad 2 for days 4-7. Tell a story. Don't annoy them with the same image for a month.
Email Retargeting: The Forgotten Channel
If you collected their email (e.g., they started a quote request but didn't finish), send an automated email 1 hour later: "Did life get in the way? Here is a link to finish your booking." This "Abandoned Cart" style email for services recovers 10-15% of lost leads.
The "Omnipresence" Effect
When a customer sees your truck in town, then visits your site, and then sees your ad on CNN.com, Facebook, and Instagram, they assume you are the biggest, most successful company in town.
It builds massive trust. They think, "These guys are everywhere," even though you're only spending $150/month to target the 500 people who visited your site.
